The Backpacks for Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing children in need in the Greater Boston area with backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. Backpacks for Kids was founded in 2001 by Kaitlin Murphy, Kristen Raymond, Kim Roth, and Leslie Wardwell. The organization was taken over by Elizabeth Allen, Eric Bartholomae, Sarah Bartholomae, and Devon Laidman, and it is now run by Charlie and Meredith Allen, Bailey Laidman and Kerrianne Brown, Co-Directors. Noel Gridley and Aryana Moghaddam are currently volunteering to prepare for their future role of Co-Directors, beginning in 2017.
After the extreme success of this 2016 summer, providing 707 backpacks to children in need, we are now seeking donations and planning for the 2017 drive! We have maintained relationships with 10 different service agencies, and they have continued to rely on our support since 2001. Check out the blog for more updates!
Backpacks for Kids focuses on the one thing that children need in order to be successful: their education. You can help make a difference in a child's life.
