The Backpacks for Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing children in need in the Greater Boston area with backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. Backpacks for Kids was founded in 2001 by Kaitlin Murphy, Kristen Raymond, Kim Roth, and Leslie Wardwell. The organization has been led by Elizabeth Allen, Eric Bartholomae, Sarah Bartholomae, and Devon Laidman, and most recently by Charlie and Meredith Allen, Bailey Laidman and Kerrianne Brown. Noel Gridley, Ben Gridley, Aryana Moghaddam and Cameron Moghaddam, and their families took over at the beginning of 2017. Emma & Alex Goodness are joining the team in 2019.
After the extreme success of the 2018 summer, providing 777 backpacks to children in need, we are now seeking donations and planning for the 2019 drive! We have started shopping for supplies and contacting service agencies. We have maintained relationships with 10 different service agencies, and they have continued to rely on our support since 2001. Backpacks for Kids focuses on the one thing that children need in order to be successful: their education. You can help make a difference in a child's life.
