The Backpacks for Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing children in need in the Greater Boston area with backpacks and school supplies for the upcoming school year. Backpacks for Kids was founded in 2001 by Dover-Sherborn High School students Kaitlin Murphy, Kristen Raymond, Kim Roth, and Leslie Wardwell. Continuing through DSHS students, the organization has been led in turn by Elizabeth Allen, Eric and Sarah Bartholomae, Devon and Bailey Laidman, Charlie and Meredith Allen, and Kerrianne Brown. Noel and Ben Gridley, Aryana and Cameron Moghaddam, and their families took over at the beginning of 2017 and Emma and Alex Goodness joined the team in 2019!
Right Now
Although we were presented with some unique challenges in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic this summer, we were still able to provide 665 backpacks to children in need in our local communities! We are now seeking donations and planning for the 2021 fundraising drive. We have maintained relationships with multiple local service agencies since 2001, as they have continued to rely on our support year after year.
Focus
Backpacks for Kids focuses on the one thing that children need in order to be successful: their education. You can help make a difference in a child's life.
